Do you want to speed read? If so, say you can and do it. Anyone wanting to speed read can set their conscious mind while instilling power and a will to speed-read. One thing you want to keep in mind is that you must advance your skills in comprehending what you read. In fact, if you practice reading fast it could enhance your ability to comprehend what you read. While practicing speed-reading you want to sit in a comfortable position. You can picture yourself in an office sitting at a desk, thus sitting up straight with your attention completely on what you are doing.

While some people may recommend at the start that you use a timer to calculate your time reading, consequently, I am aware that timing self, places stress on the mind. Therefore, when you first start, just read. Once you feel comfortable use a timer to decide how long it takes you to read. Another word of advice is that while reading, read something of interest. If you cannot find interest in what you are, reading it will hinder your ability to speed read.

Once you are ready to use a timer you can record your time. Before you start, however you should set goals. For instance, I plan to read 30 pages in one hour. Having a goal and plan will help you learn to speed read faster. You may want to take a few deep breathes before beginning your project. When the mind is, relaxed it becomes easier to get through what you have in mind. When the mind relaxes, it makes it easier to stay focused as well. To help you start speed-reading we can consider a few sentences.

Practice:
Connie started out reading her assignment at rapid speed and later went over the information to see what she could recall. After rereading the information, Connie checked her comprehension level of what she read. As she began rereading the information, you felt insecure, since she could remember very few details of what she had read. After rereading the information however, she realized that she comprehended well and what she read made sense to her. Thus, Connie felt her comprehension was good, and this lead Connie to see that she remembered more than she thought. Connie lacked confidence in self. With this in mind, Connie used her new discovery of herself, which she intended to work on, by adding to her plans and goals that she also would include building confidence in self. Thus, Connie added in her plans and goals that she would also work on building her confidence, while learning to speed-read.

Now, use a timer and reread the sentence. Write down what you comprehend. Write down what you can take from the sentence to help you achieve your goals in speed-reading. While reading, you can work along with the sentences while using your eyes to speed across the sentences. If you choose to read aloud, read the sentence as fast as you can while working your speech in harmony. Speaking fast while reading can help you skip through areas to read faster. For instance, (Connie read her assignment at rapid speed. Later Connie scanned the information testing her recall skills. Connie also checked her comprehension level. After rereading, Connie spotted her lack of confidence. Connie decided to work on this trait to better her comprehension and abilities to read fast)
