First, understand a sentence must have a noun (name class of people, place, or thing), a verb (core subject), which the subject must name an action within the sentence.

Now, we can consider a few details to help you spot a valid sentence.
Candy did make it after all.

The question is what did Candy make? The sentence is not truly clear; therefore, it is not a sentence.

Candy worked at the shop.

Ok, what shop did Candy work at? Did she make something at the shop?

It was Candy’s first day at the shop. After struggling to learn her new roles in the cookie making business, she finally made it through the day.

Notice, we have a verb and noun that works. We know that Candy works at a shop making cookies. (Message in the sentence) We know that Candy must had struggled, and had doubt of her abilities, yet we know Candy made it through the day successfully.

The message of any sentence is what you need to spot, since the messages is where you can gradually pick up your speed in reading.

Now we can discuss words to see how it fits in comprehension and speed-reading. Most of us relate to words in our own way, which down through the centuries, the interpretations of most has led them off course. Why do you think people have doubts? Why do you think people have fears? Why do you think people find it hard to discover answers to particular subjects? Well, the answer is these people don’t know, they do not understand, they not have meaning; they do not comprehend what the question is to explain it.
